THE BEGINNING

It was founded as Denver Rockets in 1967 but 7 years later the name was changed to as we know them today, the Denver Nuggets. The best season in its history dates from when the team was not yet part of the NBA. It was in the ABA league (before being acquired by the NBA) that they reached the ABA Finals in 1976. In the following season the Denver Nuggets, New York Nets, San Antonio Spurs and Indiana Pacers joined the NBA.

In 1980 to attract the public they formed an offensive game team, with no interest in defense. In 1981-82 they scored 100 points or more in all matches. In 1983 the Pistons and the Nuggets combined to score 370 points in a match and after an extension, record in the history of the league (186-184).

THE 90S

In 1990 there was a change of coach that further accentuated the tendency of the team: more attack and less defense, which meant achieving the negative record in set points for two consecutive years.

In the 1992 draft they got the future Hall of Fame Dikembe Mutombo and two seasons later they returned to the Playoffs of their hand, that of Chris Jackson and Ellis.

THE NEXT CENTURY: CARMELO ANTHONY

In 2003, hopes returned to Denver. The election of superstar Carmelo Anthony allowed them to only need two months to get more victories than the previous season (+20). Anthony, Andre Miller, Boykins, Marcus Camby, Nené and Jon Barry led the franchise back to the Playoffs although losing in the first round against the Minnesotta Timberwolves from Kevin Garnett.

In 2006 they managed to be third in the Western Conference.

In the following season they managed to join Carmelo Anthony with Allen Iverson, the two top scorers of the season with more than 30 points each. Finally, the lack of chemistry in the workforce took its toll and were eliminated year after year in the first rounds of the draft.

In 2008 they transferred to Camby and Iverson and took over Chauncey Billups. With him they managed to make the leap of quality they needed. That season they fell in the Conference Finals against Los Angeles Lakers. The following year the injuries of Anthony, Billups and Kenyon Martin threw them in the first round of Playoffs.

RECONSTRUCTION

It started in 2011 and after Anthony's discontent, he was traded, as were Billups and other players. Transfers began to rejuvenate the workforce with McGee, Rudy Fernández and Iguodala. Despite being a reconstruction in 2012 they finished 57-25 with Lawson, Faried, Gallinari, Chandler, Iguodala, Nate Robinson and Andre Miller in the team. The following year with change of coach and transfers they were left out of Playoffs.

In the 2015 NBA draft they acquired Nikola Jokic (# 41) Gary Harris (# 19) and Jusuf Nurkic (# 16). In 2016 to Jamal Murray.

NEW ERA IS COMING

In the 2018-19 season with a team with Gary Harris, Jamal Murray, Will Burton, Paul Millsap and Nikola Jokic won the title of their division but finally failed to defeat the Portland Trail Blazers of Lillard and McCollum, losing in the seventh game.
