The Mitchell & Ness hat brand was founded in Philadelphia in 1904 by Frank Mitchell and Charles Ness. At the beginning they specialized in tennis rackets, golf clubs to the taste of the consumer. They also manufactured uniforms for the football and baseball city teams.
In 1925 they started creating designs and making uniforms for the high school, college and sports teams of Philly and commuter trains.
By 1933, the Mitchell & Ness label was already appearing in the NFL through the uniforms of the Philadelphia Eagles. It remained until 1963. In 1938 the Mitchell & Ness hat brand entered professional baseball, equipping the Philadelphia Athletics and the Phillies years later.
In 1985 a request from a client pushed them to a new direction asking to repair their shirts of the baseball teams of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1960 and St. Louis Browns in 1939. It was then when they created their first authentic sportswear, historical and vintage type. With this idea the brand Mitchell & Ness Nostalgia Co. was definitively born.
On July 6, 1987 the most important sports newspaper in the United States Sports Illustrated made an article of the strong growth of the brand and the popularity gained. That article just pushed the brand to the top.
In 1988 he acquired the exclusive rights to make the numbers of the Major League Baseball teams jerseys.
In 2005, to continue growing, it also acquired the rights of C.L.C. College Vault. A year later, the exclusive rights to reproduce the Michael Jordan Authentic T-shirt. In 2007 they started producing snapback caps, baseball caps and even Mithcell & Ness trucker caps for the major sports leagues of America.
Today, Mitchell & Ness offers authentic vintage shirts as well as clothing collections for the MLB, NFL, NBA, NCAA and MLS.
